Users can also sell access to their exams or purchase other people’s exams so that they don’t have to create new ones. Exam Professor was founded by teacher David Brannon who believed there was a better way than pencils, papers, and score cards. It has grown popular enough to be used by many major organizations, including SONY, John Deere, Microsoft, University of Phoenix, the British Columbia Ministry of Education and the Department of Homeland Security.
Exam Professor is a unique application. There do not seem to be many applications that have attacked the exam problem specifically, though there are certainly a few online test taking modules that have been individually created by businesses and users.
The app offers a neat, clean feel. The interface isn’t entirely intuitive, requiring a little poking, prodding, and navigation. Once a user gets the hang of it, however, the exam process is pretty easy to put together and use. Mastering the app is mostly a matter of figuring out where everything is. The app is fast and responsive, and it’s easy to see how it could meet the needs of test givers.
Users pick a username and add the name of their organization or group. Users then offer their first name, last name, user name, password, and e-mail address. Users then agree to the terms of service. The app will inform the user of a welcome e-mail and redirect them to a login screen.
There are 5 plans. The free plan allows a user to create 1 exam and can serve up to 10 students. The “Personal” plan is $9 per month and allows for 1 teacher, up to 25 exams, and 100 students. The “Basic” plan is $24 per month, allowing for 5 teachers, up to 50 exams, and up to 300 students. The “Plus” plan is $49 per month and allows for 10 teachers, 100 exams, and up to 500 students. The “Ultimate” plan allows for up to 50 teachers, and allows for an unlimited number of exams and students. There are no contracts, sign up fees, or termination fees. Users can upgrade or downgrade their plan at any time. The plan that users purchase also determines the percentage of the sale price that a user will receive for selling an exam.
